Celery Top Pine
Durable Beauty
Phyllocladus aspleniifolius

One of the best known of Tasmania’s native conifers growing to around 25 metres, Celery Top has a pale straw colour when freshly cut and darkens to pleasing gold tones with age. It is hard, strong and dense, finishes well and has no odour or taste. It is relatively heavy for a pine. Traditionally used for boat building, especially for fit-out and cabins, but also for planking wooden boats, and it is also used for joinery, bench tops, flooring, outdoor and indoor furniture, kitchen cupboards and wall paneling. It is also good for turning, especially for spindle work. Celery Top is prized for its durability, stability and lovely fine-grained texture.
